Fire, EMS Organizations in 58th District Receive Grants, Walsh Says
HARRISBURG – Twenty-five fire and emergency medical service companies serving the 58th Legislative District have been awarded almost $285,000 in Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services grants, said Rep. Justin Walsh (R-Westmoreland).

The grant money comes from state gaming proceeds as required under state law. Funding can be used to build, repair or renovate a fire company or ambulance service’s primary structure; purchase or repair firefighting, ambulance or rescue equipment; participate in training seminars and workshops; or pay down the organization’s debt. To receive a grant award, an organization must first apply.

“Firefighters and emergency medical services personnel put their own lives on the line to save ours,” Walsh said. “These grants are just a small way to show our appreciation, and aim to make our emergency responders’ jobs easier. I’m pleased to be able to support this worthwhile program.”
