HARRISBURG – Rep. Justin Walsh (R-Westmoreland) today hosted the state champion Jeannette High School football team.

“It is an honor to recognize the Jayhawk football team on the House floor,” Walsh said. “These young men showed exceptional athleticism beating Homer-Center by a score of 42-12. They dominated on all sides of the ball. The team’s accomplishments now will be immortalized in the House record forever.”

The Jayhawks captured the 2017 PIAA Class A title at Hersheypark Stadium on Dec. 7, 2017, to close out its 15-win season It also won its ninth district championship in school history, the fourth highest in the WPIAL. The team was led by captains Robert Kennedy, Jalen Jones, Tre Cunningham and Ian Smith, and Head Coach Roy Hall.

The 58th Legislative District in Westmoreland County includes Jeannette and Monessen cities, as well as East Huntingdon (part), Hempfield (part), Rostraver, Sewickley and South Huntingdon townships. Also, the district encompasses the boroughs of Adamsburg, Arona, Madison, Mount Pleasant, North Belle Vernon, Penn, Smithton, Sutersville and West Newton.
