Culver, Walsh Announce $100,000 State Grant for Slocum Township Volunteer Fire Company

December 18, 2025

HARRISBURG – This week, the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) approved a grant of $100,000 for the Slocum Township Volunteer Fire Company (VFC), announced Sen. Linda Schlegel Culver (R-Columbia/Luzerne/Montour/Northumberland/Snyder) and Rep. Jamie Walsh (R-Luzerne).

The funding will be used in conjunction with other funds for construction and engineering costs of a new fire station.

“I was very happy to have advocated for this funding to help the fire company build a new station to better serve the community,” said Walsh. “This type of investment in our communities is essential for enhanced public safety.”

“These investments will help communities address real needs while easing the financial burden on local taxpayers,” Culver said. “From public safety equipment and wastewater improvements to childcare, historic preservation, and community facilities, this funding supports projects that improve quality of life across our region.”

The CFA is an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
