Almost $5 Million Awarded to Oak Hill Water System, Walsh Says
July 15, 2026
HARRISBURG – Almost $5 million in grants and loans has been awarded to Aqua Pennsylvania Inc. for infrastructure improvements in Lehman Township, according to Rep. Jamie Walsh (R-Luzerne).
The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) selected the Oak Hill water system for almost $4.5 million in grants and $275,000 in low-interest loans to treat for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
“Access to safe, clean drinking water is fundamental to the health and quality of life of Pennsylvania communities. This investment will help local leaders improve critical water infrastructure while keeping costs affordable for taxpayers and water customers,” Walsh said.
PFAS are commonly called “forever chemicals” because they break down slowly over time. They can be found in a wide variety of consumer goods, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
PENNVEST provides low-cost financial assistance for projects that improve drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
