Walsh Announces $895,160 in Grant Funding for Projects in the 117th District

September 15, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Walsh (R-Luzerne) today announced $895,160 in funding from the Local Share Account (LSA) grant program for public safety improvements, equipment purchases and infrastructure projects across the 117th District.

“I was pleased to work with Sens. Dave Argall, Lisa Baker and Linda Schlegel Culver to advocate for funding of these projects, which will make a huge impact in their communities,” said Walsh. “This funding will help alleviate the financial burden on our municipalities without pulling from taxpayer dollars. I’m grateful such a large portion of funding has been allocated to our region.”

Municipalities receiving grants include:

• Black Creek Township - $114,522 for the purchase of a patching machine to repair roads in the township.

• Black Creek Township, on behalf of Nuremberg-Weston Volunteer Fire Company - $75,000 for the purchase of updated gear and equipment.

• Dallas Borough, on behalf of Misericordia University - $150,000 for pedestrian safety improvements at the roundabout in the borough.

• Harvey’s Lake Borough - $254,308 for a hydrilla management project at Harvey’s Lake. The funding would specifically be used to destroy hydrilla, an invasive, non-native aquatic plant that is destroying the lake, as well as continued monitoring to determine the effectiveness of the treatment.

• Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority, on behalf of Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA - $225,000 for construction of a new dining lodge at Camp Kresge in Dennison Township.

• Ross Township - $76,330 for the purchase of a new mini excavator.

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
